A gate latch, copied from the one that sheared.
The old latch was mild steel, painted so many times the section was a guess. I ground the paint off, traced it on a piece of plate, and forged the hook so it drops under its own weight. The customer wanted it black. Oil and heat will do that. Paint will hide a bad fit, so I left the paint off until he tried it on the gate.
He came back the same afternoon. It dropped. That is the whole job.
